Five Lipsticks for the Festive Season

The festive season is now upon us and the official countdown to Christmas has begun! With parties to go to and lots of Christmassy days out to be enjoyed, red lipstick has well and truly made its way to the front of our lipstick drawers. I especially love red lipstick at this time of year it just feels so Christmassy and special. I have taken a look through my lipstick collection and narrowed it down to five of my favourite lipsticks for the festive season. I have included a couple of nude shade too for days when you want a more natural look, as well as bolder shades for when you want your bejeweled sparkly dress to be your main statement. What will be your 'Christmas day' lipstick?

1.Too Faced Melted Matte, Lady Balls. This is my favourite, and by far the most festive lipstick from my top five. The vibrant Santa suit red will be the perfect Christmas day lipstick; it's the perfect colour, doesn't fade and is reasonably long lasting so there's no need to worry about lipstick going everywhere when you're eating your second round of roast dinner and drinking a few glasses of mulled wine. This shade of red is perfect for all festivities.

2. Maybelline Sensational Matte Lipstick, Burgundy Blush. The bold purple and deep berry hues make this lipstick a real statement. With a creamy texture, this lipstick glides on with ease and gives a lovely matte finish without being drying. The wear time is reasonable, however it can be quite hard to stay neat if you're not used to wearing such a dark colour (I have smudged this so many times!) so I'd recommend pairing this with a dark lip liner and blotting.

3. Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick, 01. This has been in my lipstick collection for quite a while as it's such a classic red. You can't not wear red lipstick during December! Shade 01 is a gorgeous cherry coloured blue toned red, very Christmassy. True to it's name, the finish of the lipstick is long lasting and has the longest wear compared to all the other lipsticks mentioned in this post. You can't go wrong with this, it will compliment all skin tones beautifully!

4. Tanya Burr Lipstick, Pink Cocoa. For those that prefer nude shades, pink cocoa is perfect. This lipstick is highly pigmented and delivers a lovely silky smooth finish. I love the Tanya Burr lipsticks as the formula is so smooth and creamy as it's enriched with vitamin E which means it makes your lips beautifully soft and moisturised. Pink Cocoa is my perfect nude shade, it's a very natural colour with a mix of brown and pink undertones; a magical combination.

5. Too Faced Melted Matte, Honey. Nineties nudes are going nowhere and are still wearable in the winter. I think this chocolaty shade is a great alternative to a classic red this party season. Other than looking so dreamy, this lipstick is infused with antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and has a yummy chocolate scent reminiscent to a box of newly opened quality street. The matte formula is comfortable to wear and the precision tip makes application effortless.
